Metal-impregnated graphite is a high-performance composite made by filling carbon graphite micropores with molten metal (antimony, copper, Babbitt) under vacuum/high pressure. By temperature and duty: 500°C high-temp choose antimony (M106H); below 400°C needing conductivity/high-load choose copper (M106D); below 200°C high-speed precision choose Babbitt (M254B). Antimony has highest hardness, copper best conductivity, Babbitt lowest friction.
Yes. Antimony and copper-impregnated grades are chemically stable in water for pump seals. However, they are not suitable for food-grade drinking water — metal ions may leach out. Drinking water should use resin-impregnated grade (M106K).
